St. Joseph Medical Center Offers World-class Specialized Healthcare
for Treatment of Diabetes, Heart and Wounds
ENDOCRINOLOGY
When St. Joseph Medical Center became aware that area seniors living with diabetes were waiting months on new patient lists due to the lack of services in the metro, they found that unacceptable. And they did something about it. Last year, the hospital opened a new inpatient/outpatient endocrinology clinic and hired Dr. Ahmad Al-Mubaslat, a board-certified doctor of internal medicine, endocrinology, diabetes and metabolic disorders. With two decades of experience, Dr. Al-Mubaslat treats all types of diabetes, thyroid disease, metabolic disorders, osteoporosis, and other hormone and metabolic issues.
“Our center has recruited all the essential elements to ensure delivery of world-class diabetes and endocrine care to our patients,” says Dr. Al-Mubaslat. “Our goal is to offer nothing but the best to our patients.”
After graduating medical school from Jordan University, Dr. Al-Mubaslat concluded his internal medicine residency training at Brown University Medical School in Providence, R.I. He says that the vision and commitment of St. Joseph Medical Center is “very well situated to provide cutting-edge current and future diabetes and endocrine care to the beloved community of Kansas City.”
CARDIOLOGY
Area seniors can take comfort knowing the hospital has also taken their heart health needs to a new level.
In February, the Healient Physician Group moved to the hospital campus in a $3 million relocation project that included a newly renovated 16,644 square-foot facility. Healient is well-known in Kansas City as a leader in the diagnosis and treatment of cardiac, wound care, and vascular disease.
“Our physician specialists boast decades of experience in their respective fields,” says Jodi Fincher, CEO. “We focus on providing every patient the targeted, personalized care and quality outcomes they’ve come to expect from us. Healient’s mission is to care for each patient as if they were a member of our own family.”
With 40 full-time employees, including eight physician specialists, Healient’s services include state-of-the-art diagnostic and minimally invasive treatment of heart and vascular conditions. Calcium score screenings are also available and encouraged for anyone over 40 years old. This life-saving exam takes about five minutes and doesn’t involve needles, prep, pain, or a physician’s referral. (Call 816-943-4799 to schedule your appointment.)
WOUND CARE
Also available is the area’s newest hyperbaric treatment facility for conditions including difficult-to-heal wounds. Wound care is often necessary for injuries that break the skin because patients are left vulnerable to germs, dirt and bacteria. Untreated wounds can cause pain, loss of function, or compromised quality of life, which is why it is so important to contact a wound care specialist, particularly for surgical or diabetic wounds.
“We’re thrilled to offer both the Healient Physician Group and the Endocrinology Center at our campus,” says Jodi Fincher, CEO. “With greater efficiency, convenience, and collaboration, these service lines are two more examples of how St. Joseph Medical Center is committed to providing world-class healthcare on a local level.”
