Wound Care and Hyperbaric Medicine
Dr. Thad Stephens is a former ER doctor that specializes in wound care for Healient Physician Group. He has over 20 years’ experience treating post-surgical wounds, traumatic wounds, infections of the bone and skin and diabetic foot ulcers. Patients who have vascular disease and venous insufficiency may also have chronic wounds. Dr. Stephens is Board Certified in Hyperbaric Oxygen medicine which utilizes 100% oxygen under pressure that aids the healing process in certain wound types.
Dr. Stephens grew up here in Kansas City. He went to medical school at the University of Kansas and did his residency at Truman Medical Center. He is board certified in Emergency Medicine and Undersea Hyperbaric Medicine. Dr. Stephens started his career in the Emergency Department at St. Joseph Medical Center and remained there for 18 years. During that time, he also was President/Medical Director for Hyperbaric Oxygen of Kansas City. He was also the Medical Director of the Emergency Technician Program at Johnson County Community College and he served on the board of directors at St. Joseph Medical Center.
Dr. Stephens is passionate about helping those suffering from acute and chronic wounds and gives all of his patients the best possible care. Dr. Stephens is on staff at multiple hospitals in the Kansas City area and also serves those residents at skilled nursing facilities living with chronic wounds. In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his family, playing tennis, scuba diving and traveling.
