Dr. Burkart is a board certified vascular interventional physician at Healient Physician Group.  He has served patients in the Kansas City area for more than 20 years.

He specializes in diagnosing and treating diseases and conditions affecting the arteries and veins. He has expertise in all facets of peripheral vascular interventions performing minimally invasive catheter-based surgical procedures including atherectomy, angioplasty, and stenting. He is a member of the American College of Radiology.

 

Dr. Burkart has been a native of the Kansas City area since 1980. Following graduation from Blue Springs High School as valedictorian, he attended University of Missouri, Kansas City, majoring in Biology. By the time he was 23 years old, he graduated from medical school at the University of Missouri, Kansas City. He then spent 6 years in Rochester, Minnesota at Mayo Clinic completing his post-graduate medical training with a residency in Diagnostic and Investigative Radiology.  Additionally, he obtained a master’s degree in Biomedical Science from Mayo Graduate School.  He completed a fellowship in Vascular and Interventional Radiology in Indianapolis at Indiana University, Methodist Hospital.  In 1998, he began his career in Kansas City at Saint Joseph Medical Center as Director of Vascular Interventions.  He currently serves as Co-Director of Cardiovascular Interventions.

 

Dr. Burkart works tirelessly for his patients. He has been site principal investigator on multiple nationally recognized clinical trials to bring new and effective therapies to his patients. He has won the Top Doctor award in Kansas City and is one of the founders of Healient Physician Group, currently serving as its managing partner. Outside the office, he enjoys spending time with his wife, Tiffany, and his two sons, Joseph and Samuel.  His core values include faith, family, and friends.
